Predator Plush

Sorry it has been a while, but with Thanksgiving just over and the holidays coming up, things have been pretty hectic.  Nevertheless, today I am excited to present my very first commissioned piece...Predator!!!

Being a comissioned piece, I wanted to make sure I did it right.  As a result, I spent a pretty long time capturing all the little details that the original predator had and I think it turned out pretty good.  Anyway, I am currently working on something a little different than what I have currently been doing, so stay tuned for the new designs.  Happy Holidays!!

The Iceman Cometh

I can still fondly remember rushing home from school in the mid 90s so I could have plenty of time to watch my favorite cartoon ever...Batman The Animated Series.  That show was the true turn to make the Dark Knight more gritty and dreary like he is supposed to be.  This show was also when I found my favorite Batman villian...Mr Freeze.  I always felt sorry for Mr. Freeze because his origin story was so tragic and yet he still had a really "cool" design...I know, bad joke.  Anyway, I made the next Channel Changer to remember the great times I had watching that show.

I have some commissioned pieces that I am going to be working on next, so stay tuned for those.  Also, you may notice from the specs that I came up with a new design for the hang tag.  Honestly, the way I was doing it before just took a lot of work to prepare, so I wanted to have a simpler yet cooler solution... I hope you guys like it.  As always, enjoy the specs and pics...

Kick-Ass

Hey guys!  For the next Channel Changer, I wanted to make another guy inspired by a sweet movie that I saw earlier this year.  So, it didn't really take me that long to come up with Kick-Ass! If you haven't seen that movie, you really should.  The graphic novel is also pretty good too.  As a result, my design ended up being a combo of both the comic and movie's costume...

Stay tuned for more plushies and enjoy the specs!!

Avatar Plushie

Welcome Back!  It has been crazy the past few days.  I had actually finished this Channel Changer about a week ago, but I still want to show him because I think I am getting better at these guys.  So, without further ado, I present the Jake Sully Plushie!

It's funny, someone pointed out on my deviantart page that they love my "grumpy" plush dolls.  I never really thought about it that way, but I think I like the idea of creating all grumpy plush characters...haha.  Anyway, here is the spec and pics.  Enjoy!

Agent P Update

Man this has been a crazy hectic week.  Today was the last work day before Halloween so we all got to dress up and decorate pumpkins and things which was pretty fun...but I was crazy busy preparing for it all week.  Luckily, the toy design group won like we always do!!!  Anyway, I never really loved the way the Agent P Channel Changer's hat turned out before, so I  kept working on him and now I think it is 100% better.  Now, if I ever make another character with a hat, I will know how to do it correctly the first time..haha.  Here are the new pics.  Enjoy!

LizardMan

Welcome Back!  Today I am presenting the 2nd addition to my original line of Crazy Carnies.  This guy was found roaming the vast Amazon Rainforest and although he may seem cute and cuddly...he bites!

I had a blast designing and creating this guy because they turn out so cute and fun.  I actually have quite a few more original designs that I am working on to add to the Crazy Carnies so always check back to see the new additions.  Also, remember that you can purchase any of these guys at my etsy account (http://www.etsy.com/shop/ChannelChangers) and create some fun adventures of your own. Crazy Carnies Are Here!!

Hey Everyone!  Sorry it has been so long since my last post, but I have been hard at work creating my own personal line of plush toys.  Today, I am proud to introduce my original line...Crazy Carnies!

I based my new line off of the old traveling carnival freakshows...except much cuter versions.  I have already finished the first 3 and started on several more.  Today I am revealing the first Crazy Carny...The Strongman!

Step right up, Step right up and see the worlds strongest man! Able to lift over 5,000 lbs...per arm!  Enjoy the spec and photos, but remember to stay tuned because I am going to post the other new ones very soon.

Agent P

Welcome Back! So, after my Perry the Platypus Channel Changer I had a lot of requests to create and Agent P version too.  As a result, here is the amazing crime fighting, fedora wearing platypus...Agent P!

So, now that I think I am getting better at this, I think I am finally going to start creating my own line of plushies.  I have a couple of fun ideas so stay tuned for those.  Anyway, enjoy the spec sheet and pics of Agent P!

GameBoy

Get ready for a blast from the past!  So, I decided to change things up a little bit for the 3rd Channel Changer.  Instead of the typical character shape, I decided to try something a little more complicated.  As a result, I am proud to present....The Plush GameBoy!!!

This guy ended up being a little more difficult, mainly because I kept it proportionally accurate to an actual gameboy...(I know, I'm a nerd).  But, I think it turned out pretty great.  I also included a plush Tetris "cartridge" in the back that I printed on fabric.  I can still remember the days where I would spend hours on end playing that game and I had a blast reliving those days while making this guy...enjoy!

Perry the Platypus!

Hey Guys,

Sorry it has been so long, but things have been pretty hectic at work recently which didn't leave me much time to work on the Channel Changers.  Nevertheless, I did manage to finish the first one and here he is (drumroll please)...

So, as you can see I decided to make Perry the Platypus from Disney's amazing cartoon Phineas and Ferb.  I started watching this show recently and it really is pretty funny and clever.  If haven't heard of it, you should really check it out.  I think he turned out pretty well after the 3rd version...haha. Anyway, being a professional designer I had to create a spec for myself to show what my design would look like...

Rise of the Machine!

Hey Guys!!  Well, the sewing machine arrived yesterday and I am really excited!  I read the instructions front to back (I know...I'm a nerd) and began practicing some simple stitches.  Honestely, so far it seems like a great investment and an amazing time saver.  I still need to learn to master some basic machine methods, but I think it won't be too long before I start creating the very first Channel Changer!!!  I decided to try a little simpler character to begin with and decided to give you guys a sneak peek....Enjoy!!

Week 1

Hello again!!  Well this week has gone by pretty quickly.  I have spent most of my free time practicing hand stitching techniques that I have learned from numerous sites on the web.  Don't worry though, I know that hand stitching would be painfully slow, so I just bought a sewing machine that should help the process go a little quicker; I will keep you guys posted on how that turns out.  However, as for stitching by hand, it is actually a pretty easy skill to learn...I highly recommend it.  I also managed to sketch out a few more character concepts for the Channel Changers line that I hope you will love....stay tuned!!!!!

In the beginning...

Hey Everyone!! Welcome to what I am sure will be an interesting journey into the world of plush toy design. Just to give you guys a quick background, I am currently a professional toy designer working for a pretty big corporation. However, most of the toys I work on are mostly plastic and electronic. As a result, I wanted to teach myself how to "professionally" sew and create some pretty nifty things in the process.

I first starting throwing around the idea of creating my own line of Channel Changers when I noticed that a few companies starting making collectible plush characters. I thought this was a cool idea because you see collectible vinyl toys all the time, but plush is something fairly unique. As a result, these are the main examples that caught my eye and inspired my designs...

Right now, I already have some designs in the works which I will be posting in the coming weeks, but my biggest challenge will be learning how to sew... So, if you guys have any easy to follow and informative sites or instructions, please send them my way! Wish me luck!!!
